Former Heat and Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said that he would not be coaching next season. He made the announcement on the David Baumann show, a radio program in Orlando.
Van Gundy had been linked to various different openings, including the Pistons, Hawks and Cavs. Van Gundy said he had not interviewed with other teams, although he had been contacted about several positions. He said it was a family decision, and he was looking to do what was in the best interest of his family.
Van Gundy coached the Heat for three seasons (2003-04 to 2005-06) and Magic for five (2007-08 to 2011-12).
